Duke Energy donates to wildlife refuge

Tuesday, Duke Energy presented Carolina Waterfowl Rescue officials with a donation of $50,000 to help with the development of the Crooked Creek Wildlife Sanctuary which is on land donated by Hanson Aggregates across from the Marlboro County airport.  At right, Mindy Taylor of Duke Energy presents a check to Jennifer Gordon of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue as Andrea Couch (center front) of Duke Energy, Cary Gordon (back left) and Bobby Adams of Duke Energy look on.  Above, Marlboro County Administrator Ron Munnerlyn and Taylor release a pair of barred owls into the sanctuary.  The owls had been injured by automobiles but nursed back to health by the staff of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.
