Thursday night was supposed to be the Bulldogs' night on television. Channel 21's Thursday Night Lights telecast was to originate from McAlpine Stadium as Marlboro County High took on South Florence.
However, Hurricane Florence had other ideas. With the storm scheduled to make landfall somewhere along the North or South Carolina coast Thursday, the Bulldogs first moved the game until Wednesday. That plan was altered just now, as South Florence called MCHS head coach Dean Boyd to postpone the game.

Clio traffic stop yields drugs, phones
A traffic stop Tuesday evening in Clio yielded drugs and smart phones headed to the Bennettsville Federal Correctional Institution.
Clio Lt. Chad Cheras said Officer Trey Cox stopped a vehicle speeding with a tail light out at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
When Cox smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, he asked the driver, Timothy Woods, about it.
Woods said he had smoked some earlier.

Farewell Angelina to perform at the Marlboro Civic Center
Country artist Farewell Angelina will bring their blend of heart-stopping harmonies over double violins and guitars to the stage of the Marlboro Civic Center on Sept. 20.
Tickets for Farewell Angelina will go on sale Tuesday, September 4 for Civic Center members and Thursday, September 6 for the general public.
Tickets are $20 and show time is 7:30 p.m.

Marlboro County Sheriff's Office hands out more than 200 backpacks
This week more than 200 youth were able to start the school year on a positive note after a backpack giveaway on Aug. 18.
Marlboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon said the first time event was successful and planned to continue each year while in office.
