The Marlboro County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting on Friday, Dec. 17.

It will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Bennettsville Intermediate School.

On the agenda for the public session is resignation of board chair and filling board vacancy/officers.

During the executive session, there will be personnel matters— resignations and placements of certified staff.

Marlboro County Board of Education Chairman Larry McNeil resigned Dec. 14 from his position after being appointed as interim sheriff for Marlboro County. This appointment came after the indictment of Marlboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon and former deputy David Andrew Cook by a grand jury. Both were charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and misconduct in office.
