Escaped inmate back in custody

The man who escaped from the Marlboro County detention center last weekend was taken into custody yesterday in Dillon, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Dillon city police apprehended Cyril Kendrell Lowery, 28, of 323 McQueen Rd., Wednesday morning, August 9, on Highway 9, said Lt. Sara Albarri of the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office.
He has been brought back to the Marlboro County detention center where he now faces a charge of escape in addition to previous charges.
Lowery had first been arrested Friday, August 4, in a drug bust in which deputies found crack and powder cocaine and marijuana inside his home, along with weapons and money.
As a result, he was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack and powder cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, and unlawful carrying of a firearm. Jail records show he was also charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
He had not yet had a bond hearing when he escaped from the jail on Throop Street in Bennettsville around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, August 6. The Sheriff’s Office has not released information about how this happened.
Multiple state and area law enforcement agencies assisted Marlboro County with the search for Lowery, including the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED), S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Bennettsville and Dillon city police departments, and Florence, Chesterfield, Dillon, Marion and Darlington sheriff’s offices.
Five other people were arrested earlier in the week in connection with the case as well.
Anthony Blease Norris, 40, Betty Norris, 62, John Henry Norris, 63, and Kasey Lee Norris, 39, all of 1108 Polston Road, and Brian Keith Blackmon, 32, of 118 Thicket Place, Latta, all were charged with harboring an escaped convict, according to jail records.
