Community health fair

The Marlboro County Coordinating Council, under the leadership of Chairman Patricia Henegan, SC House of Representatives District 54, hosted a free Community Health and Wellness Fair Thursday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bennettsville Community Center. Entitled “Making Moves for a Healthier Marlboro,” the fair featured exercise demonstrations and weight management tips as well as healthy recipes and samples of healthy foods. It also included free blood pressure, blood glucose, varicose vein, body mass index and cholesterol screenings which, if performed in a hospital, would cost around $1,000. Educational materials were available along with speakers on health issues, and door prizes including crock pots were given away. McLeod Health Cheraw and Trinity Behavioral Care were co-sponsors. See page 3 for more about the health fair.
