There is still time to enter the Marlboro County Museum’s 2021 Photography Contest. Entries are being accepted through Friday, Nov. 19, with the winners to be announced in early December. The museum is pleased to have Sully Blair-State Farm Insurance as the contest sponsor.

The categories for this year’s contest are Historic Places, Marlboro County Life, Nature, and Spotlight: Gulf Sign. Spotlight is a new category highlighting a specific subject matter.

This year, the subject is the Gulf Oil sign located at the corner of Liberty and Market Streets behind the Courthouse in Bennettsville. The sign was erected during Bennettsville’s Bicentennial celebration in 2019 to commemorate the area known as “the Gulf,” the historic African-American business district.

As in previous years, adult and youth photo submissions will be judged separately. Winners will be named in each category, and overall winners will be chosen from the category winners.

Digital entries should be emailed to: lmcqueen@marlborocounty.sc.gov. Contest rules, and details about the categories, may be seen on the museum’s website and Facebook page.
