The Student Government 2021-2022 members were inaugurated at Marlboro County High School on Nov. 5.

“You are now the ambassadors of Marlboro County High School,” said Principal Dr. Jamane Watson.

The inauguration was in the media center and included Junior Class President Jermaine Purvis speaking about the importance of SGA, remarks from City of Bennettsville Mayor Dr. Carolyn Prince, and interim superintendent Dr. Donald Andrews.

Prince commended the students on being elected and reminded them to remember they were servant leaders.

“You are representing your school and your classmates, so you are serving,” she said. “Always remember your humility for the awesome job that your friends have elected you to do.”

Some advice given by Prince included telling members to be authentic, be honest, don’t ask anybody to do something that they aren’t willing to do, and being conscious of what you put out on social media.

“They say it never goes away,” she said.

Prince encouraged them to remember that nobody existed or got where they were by themselves.

“I never in my life planned to be mayor, but here I am,” she said. “I am committed to doing the best job I can do.”

The posting of the colors and the Pledge of Allegiance by the MCHS JROTC were followed by selections by the MCHS Bulldog Bands.
